Alex
Miller is a composer and guitarist currently based in Los Angeles. During
the spring of 2010, he will be teaching composition to Los Angeles area high
school students through the American Composers Forum. He recently taught
theory and aural skills at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, composition at California
Lutheran University and was a teaching assistant at the University of
Southern California’s Department of Theory and
Composition for three years.
His compositions
have been published by
VP Music Media in Italy, and performed by ensembles such as Brave New Works, the Quintet Attacca, the USC Symphony, the What’s Next Ensemble and Synchromy.
Performances have also taken place at academic conferences and music festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Chamber Music Conference and Composers Forum of the East, events at the Universities of Nevada, Nebraska, Washington University, California Lutheran University, the San Francisco Community Music Center and two SCI Conferences.
Miller is currently completing a DMA in Composition at the University of Southern California. He also holds an MM in Composition from the Eastman School of Music and BM degrees in Composition and Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
